From Moroccan Markets to Atlantic Horizons

With Muhammedia explored and provisions replenished, we set sail for the Canary Islands. The journey was a pleasant one, characterized by light winds and clear skies. These idyllic conditions provided the perfect opportunity to indulge in a newfound hobby – stargazing. Armed with a book of constellations, I spent countless hours identifying celestial bodies, much to Damjan’s amusement. My growing library of navigation guides, often dismissed as unnecessary ballast, finally found a purpose.

To combat the monotony of life at sea, I experimented with cooking, using the spices bought in Morocco to create flavorful dishes. A particular highlight was a spicy burger made with mixed meat and chili, a culinary adventure that brightened our days.

Our initial plan to rendezvous with friends in Gran Canaria for the Atlantic crossing was dashed when they canceled their plans. This unexpected turn forced us to reevaluate our preparations and adjust our timeline. We estimated the journey to St. Lucia, our first Caribbean island destination, would take around 18-20 days.

Four days after leaving Morocco, we dropped anchor in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria. The island, with its promise of adventure and relaxation, beckoned us to explore its shores.
